A Silver coin was struck in the name of Queen Victoria in Bharatpur princely state which was a Nazarana (presented) to the Queen by King Jaswant Singh.This Silver rupee coin was minted in 1958AD/1914 VS (vikram samvat). The coins with the Queen's effigy were struck immediately after the 'Queen's Proclamation' issued on 1 November 1858 which effectively ended the rule of the East India Company and made Queen the sovereign head of state of India. Bharatpur was one of the first states to support the Queen’s rule.
This Nazarana coin is extremely rare. Its obverse depicts bust of the Queen in the centre wearing a coronet surrounded by a Farsi legend “Malika Mu'azzamah Farman Rawaye Inglistan” ("Mighty Queen Ruling over England"). A Date is seen at the bottom. The reverse also features Farsi legend “Sikka-i-Zul Iqtidar Angrezi Sarkar” ("Coin of the upholder of the trust of the English Government") Zarb Brijendrapur (Brijendrapur mint) followed by mint-marks of star and dagger and Vikram samvat date.
This silver rupee Nazarana coin is in extremely fine condition and was sold on 12th April 2015 for INR 2, 50,000 by Classical Numismatic Gallery.
